The Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCA) is hosting a moderated session on the future of conferences in the arts and is seeking your feedback on how to move forward. With digital models being fine-tuned and pandemic pressures lessening in many regions, the expectation to begin meeting in person again has surfaced. Considering the changes that have taken place and new digital infrastructures that exist, what physical, digital or physical/digital hybrid models should be implemented? Can we establish increased continuity between discussions and conferences by having more actions take place in a given year? Should we stay with large-scale events rotating through regions or has demand, capacity and an eagerness for exchange increased enough to justify doing more?
This town hall aims to explore these questions as a collective way of establishing a path forward for ARCA. Our goal is to seek a better understanding of what can take place digitally and in-person to ensure that connections between people and places are maintained. We are seeking insights, critiques, and all forms of questioning within a care-based and generative space. Please bring enthusiasm towards making change. All are welcome.
