In 2014, ARCA commissioned Mariane Bourcheix-Laporte to examine the evolution of art publishing funding at the Canada Council for the Arts. The study reveals that artist-run centres no longer meet any criteria for inclusion in programs that are intended for the literary arts. This study provided the data and impetus for subsequent examination of the challenges faced by art publishing in artist-run centres and the extended visual arts.
