—
ARCA turns to the Canadian Arts Coalition for information on the next federal election and their cultural platform. The main message to communicate if and when you meet with your local MP is to please follow through on the planned increment of $35M to the Council’s budget in 2020-21 and to maintain the Canada Council’s new base funding level of $362M in 2020-21 through 2024-25 to address important demographic changes in the arts in Canada. > More info

On respectful workplaces: what ARCA is doing
—
Some members of the community requested ARCA make its decolonizing work more visible. With the support of a hired consultant, ARCA’s staff and board took part in a workshop to set objectives, and an action plan toward ReconciliAction. Next steps include exploring protocols and resources that will make this process embodied and sustainable. Stay tuned for updates leading up to the next conference. For province by province resources on respectful workplaces produced by the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC).

CARFAC-RAAV Fee Schedule for 2020 now available!
—
CARFAC-RAAV Fee schedule for 2020 is now available on their new, dedicated website. In PDF form for now, the 2020 schedule reflects changes made to performance fees following surveys of ARCA and CARFAC’s respective memberships. Highlights of changes include:
- equal fees for single performance whether in the context of an ongoing festival or single event;
- recognition of fees for collectives and for durational performances, as well as criteria for offering full exhibition fee to solo performance works.
These adjustments aim to improve the professional conditions of performance artists in Canada. The 2019 rates are already on the new website in the proper format. Expect to hear from CARFAC soon as they publicize their changes and new URL.
