ARCCO’s call for proposals : Artist-Run Centres’ National Conference

ARCA is proud to announce that Artist-Run Centres & Collectives of Ontario (ARCCO) will be hosting the next national artist-run centre conference titled Artists at the Center: Moving from the Margins to Inclusion at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario, from 12-14 November, 2015. ARCCO is inviting those who have a stake in current artist-run culture to submit proposals in response to the attached call before February 3rd 2015.

ARCA urges you to participate in the upcoming gathering as a cultural worker / artist / writer / educator / advocate, individually or on behalf of a collective or organisation. Proposals will contribute to informing and debating “the varied, transferable and transformative potential of engagement” whether from a central perspective, from a margin or from a position which is constantly shifting like that of a player on a field.

The National conference, or convention, is a biennial gathering of the global artist-run community organised in partnership with ARCA by one of its nine member artist-run associations. Previous gatherings include Institutions by Artists hosted by the Pacific Association of Artist Run Centres (PAARC) in October 2012, The Americas: Independent Artistic Practices in the Era of Globalization and Res Artis meeting hosted by Le Regroupement des centres d’artistes autogérés du Québec (RCAAQ) in 2010, and hot buttons.points chauds hosted by ARCCO in 2008. The 2017 edition of the National conference will be hosted for the first time by the Association of Artist-Run Centres from the Atlantic (AARCA).
