If your staff is working from home, you are eligible for the Temporary wage subsidy for employers: You do not need to apply for this subsidy!

This is a three-month subsidy that will allow eligible employers to reduce the amount of payroll deductions required to be remitted to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

If your publicly funded organization has the capacity to keep salaried staff working from home during the distancing and self-isolation period due to COVID-19, you are likely eligible for the 10% Temporary wage subsidy for employers equal to 10% of the remuneration you pay from March 18, 2020 to June 19, 2020 (up to a max. of $1,375 for each eligible employee). For example, if your employee earned $ 3000, you can deduct $300 from your next payroll remittance of federal, provincial, or territorial income tax that you send to the CRA by the amount of the subsidy, in this case, by $300.

To receive it, you will continue deducting income tax, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) contributions, and Employment Insurance (EI) premiums from salary, wages, bonuses, or other remuneration paid to your employees, as you currently do. The subsidy is calculated when you remit your income tax deductions to the CRA.

Important—You cannot reduce your remittance of CPP contributions or EI premiums. And, if you are not sure about figuring this out, the CRA will automatically apply the subsidy to your account when you produce your T4 summaries for 2020 next year.

Anyway, it’s really well detailed here.

Lands to Travel Through

After careful consideration, the Alberta Association of Artist-run Centres (AAARC) and the Artist-run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCA) have decided to postpone the Lands To Travel Through gathering until next year. We remain committed to honouring our agreements with artists, and supporting our community as best we can through this difficult time.

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)

If your organization’s revenues have been affected by COVID-19, you may be eligible for a subsidy of 75% of employee wages for up to 12 weeks, retroactive from March 15, 2020, to June 6, 2020. This wage subsidy is intended to re-hire workers previously laid off as a result of COVID-19, help prevent further job losses, and better position you to resume normal operations following the crisis.
